"Progress and Future of Automotive Exhaust Gas Purification Catalysts: Materials, Parts and R&D Methods"
Hirohito Hirata is General Manager of Advanced Material Engineering Division, Toyota Motor Corporation. He studied chemistry at Nagoya Institute of Technology and received a Ph.D. in 1996. He joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1996, engaged in development of NOx storage reduction catalysts and 3-way catalysts as a member of Catalyst Design Department until 2000. At 2000, he moved to Advanced Material Engineering Division, and he has been working on research of exhaust gas purification technologies. In 2011, he was appointed leader of catalyst research. From 2018, he is leader of materials (Catalyst, Battery, Magnet, Semiconductor etc.) research and the present position.
